Justice Reform Lobby Day
Wednesday February 8th, 2023 in Richmond,Virginia
The General Assembly Legislative Session is well underway, but due to our legislative priorities — protecting progress — we're waiting until later in the session to hold our Lobby Day. Join Justice Forward Virginia, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the Virginia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers on February 8, 2023 in Richmond, Virginia. We're excited to be back together and gathering in person in Richmond this year. We’ll be speaking with legislators about preserving evidence-informed criminal justice reforms that eliminated presumptions against bail, reformed our probation system, and limited pretextual policing, among other priorities.
Our Lobby Day is open to all who care about fixing our broken justice system and protecting the progress we’ve made, whether lawyers or not. We firmly believe that in order to succeed, our efforts must rely on a broad coalition, including people of faith, returning citizens, human needs and human rights organizations, and champions of individual liberty, among many others. Never lobbied on criminal justice reform before? Don't worry, you'll be meeting with legislators in small groups and you won't have to know everything.
We’ll meet a few blocks form the Capitol early morning on Wednesday, February 8th (address provided upon registration) for a quick morning mixer and debriefing, and then walk to the General Assembly together. Please click the button below to register, we look forward to seeing you in Richmond.
