Learn to be a Lobbyist! Oct. 10 in Fairfax
"Activism for Busy People"
In October of 2018, won't you want to look back on October 2017 as the dark ages of criminal discovery in Virginia? Won't you want to have war stories about your meetings with Virginia state senators, and public comment on reforming Virginia's discovery rules? Don't you want to be one of the passionate few who help the most disadvantaged Virginians finally receive Due Process? Then you need training! Join NACDL, VACDL and Justice Forward Virginia on October 10, 2017 at 5:30 p.m., for an advocacy training entitled "Activism for Busy People." The roughly 2-hour training is designed to prepare criminal defense lawyers and others for effectively advocating for criminal justice reform in Virginia.
After the training, you will be prepared to meet with your state legislators and participate in lobby days at the Virginia General Assembly when it convenes January 2018.
Topics covered will include:
changing the world – starting at home; advocating with elected officials; getting the right elected officials; sharing stories; and other best practices. Elena Langworthy from the Virginia Civic Engagement Table (VCET) will lead the training.
